5 Meetup Groups match “Baroque Music” near Chertsey, United Kingdom
Welcome to All Things Baroque. As the name suggests, we celebrate Baroque culture in all its forms - music, art, architecture, theatre, dance as well as food and wine. London was home to men with big hair such as Wren, Westminster boy Purcell and Händel, who, just like the royal family, was a German who became British. We are pretty spoilt for choice as far as Baroque music and art is concerned, although the flamboyant architectural style never took off here in the way it did in continental Eur …
This is a group for people who like renaissance choral music; I say that hoping I'm not mixing up eras of music... Perhaps it's easier to name some composers and performers, it might clarify things if I'm wrong on the era. Composers such as: Lassus, Mundy, Victoria, Allegri, Tallis, Palestrina, Lotti etc etc. Performance groups would be groups like: Gabrieli Consort, Tallis Scholars, The Sixteen. I love the music of this era and it would be great to meet other like-minded people for meet-ups. Th …
For those who love "early" music; starting from 16th century renaissance music up to about the baroque music of the 18th century. Hopefully, we'll find some concerts using original instruments - so you can experience sackbuts, hurdy gurdys, viola di gambas, serpents and other extraordinary things. This group is also for those who know nothing about this type of music but who would like to explore "new" music - you might even get hooked on the wonders of polyphony and false relations (nothing to …
Meet other local pianists and piano-lovers and attend concerts featuring the piano usually in less well-known venues with up-and-coming performers. We also organise regular performance opportunities for pianists. Beginners are most welcome. Do come along and observe if you are unsure about performing. We all meet for lunch, drinks and plenty of piano chat after events! The group is organised by pianists and teachers Lorraine Liyanage and Frances Wilson, both of whom run popular private piano tea …
I love dance, early music, social history and historical costume and historical dancing is everything combined. It's a great way to keep fit and meet new people. There is a monthly workshop in Kidlington where a different historical period is taught such as Tudor/Elizabethan, Baroque, Regency etc and then for the more advanced dancers, there are additional practice sessions, as we also appear in lecture demonstrations. There are opportunities to dance in costumes and other social activities such …
